"TRY HYPNOTISM"

NEW METHODS OF SLIMMING. "Try Hypnotism," is the scientific advice given to women who desire to reduce their weight (says a New York message).

According to Professors E. F. Patten and S. A. Switzer, psychologists, of Miami University, hypnotism as practised in their laboratory is aid-

ing their patients not only to cut down weight, but also to overcome self-consciousness. To women suffering from obesity

are suggested, while they are in a hypnotic state, actions which they carry out after they have been awakened.

Experience, it is said, has shown that the injunction, "Stop eating starchy foods," has resulted in a pronounced distaste for fattening dishes. Boys who found difficulty in getting up early and amateur actors and speakers who suffer from stagefright have been, similarly helped.
