MONTHLY MEETING. The full Waitomo Power Board, Messrs. W. A. Lee (chairman), V. W. Simms, E. T. Gorton, W. Irvine, T. M. O’Connell, W. S. Cato, J. N. Boddie, also the secretary, Mr W. F. Seeker, and the engineer, Mr N. A. Davidson, were present at the monthly meeting on Monday in the Power Board Buildings. “Discriminatory Power.” The secretary of the Presbyterian Church, Otorohanga, complained of the harsh action of the Board in cutting off the lights of the church. The amount of 12s Id was overdue, and he received the usual notice that power would be cut off within seven days if no action was taken. However, he forgot the date, and went along one night to find all the lights in the church out. “I admit the error, but I do think that I should be given a ring on the ’phone when giving the workmen the order to disconnect,” stated the letter. “I do think a little discriminatory power should be allowed, as this would save much annoyance.” The chairman stated that he was opposed to employees having discriminatory power to any extent. It might be given to the main officers of the Board. The secretary stated that the Board had its rules and he felt that it was the duty of its officers to carry then?, out. Cr. O’Connell agreed. Mr. Simms asked if the notice to disconnect had been sent out. The secretary stated that the letter had acknowledged receipt of this. _Mr. Simms said: “Oh! that’s all right then.” The letter was received. Unemployment Subsidy for New Line. The Commissioner of Unemployment stated that subsidised assistance in connection with the reticulation of the Mahiihi district would be forthcoming if registered unemployed on a full time week were worked, rates of pay were in accordance with ths appropriate award, and insurance was arranged. The engineer stated that after receiving the communication he had obtained three men from Te Kuiti and four from Otorohanga for work on the Mahiihi line. A discussion arose on the questioh of bulk supply charges, and it was resolved that the chairman, Messrs, Cato and Simms, and secretary and engineer be a committee to place the position of the country boards before Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. Mahiihi Installation. The following is a summary of the installations at Maihiihi:—l37 lighting points, 25 heating points, 2 ranges, 2 domestic water heaters, 8 milking motors, 3 separator motors, 1 shed water heater, and 2 pumps. There are 17 domestic and commercial lighting and heating installations and 10 shed installations, with more possibilities, stated the engineer’s report. Income and Expenditure. The secretary submitted a statement of estimated income and expenditure for the half year ending 30th September as follows, the figures for the corresponding period of last year being shown in parentheses:—Purchase of electricity, £3183 (£3076); distribution and operation expenses, management and general, £5611 (£6679), while the recepits from the sales of electricity were estimated at £8794 (£9755).
