WESTFIELD SALE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows under date 18th inst.:— Beef. —We yarded 145 head of beef, comprising- 45 steers and 100 cows and heifers, against 153 head last week. The quality was in most cases good, but the offering included a fair number of unfinished sorts. A steady demand resulted in a firm sale of all classes. Extra choice ox sold to 19s per lOOlbs; choice and prime ox 16s to 18s; just killable 13s to 15s; prime young cow and heifer beef 15s to 18s; just killable 11s to 14s; heavy prime steers £7 to £7 10s for steers from Mr. George Hastie, Papatoetoe; lighter prime steers £6 10s to £6 17s 6d; light prime steers £5 17s 6d to £6 7s 6d; small and unfinished steers £3 15s to £5 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £5 to £6 for heifer sold on account of Mr. J. F. Geard, Colville; heavy prime cows and heifers £3 to £3 17s 6d; other killable cows £1 10s to £2 15s.

Sheep.—Sheep again came forward in full numbers for which the demand was keen and values ruled fully equal to last week’s rates. Prime heavy hoggets 19s 3d to 21s 3d; prime medium hoggets, 18s to 19s; extra heavy prime wethers, shorn, 25s 6d to 26s 3d; heavy prime wethers, shorn, 24s 6d to 25s 3d; medium wethers, woolly, 22s 3d to 23s 3d; shorn, 23s 3d to 34s 3d; light and unfinished wethers, woolly, 21s to 225; shorn, 19s 9d to 235; heavy prime ewes, woolly, 20s to 21s; shorn, 15s to 16s; lighter ewes, woolly, 18s to 19s 6d; shorn, 12s 6d to 14s 9d.

Lambs.—An average yarding of lambs came forward and sold under strong competition at improved rates. Heavy prime lamb 24s to 24s 9d; medium prime lamb 22s 3d to 23s 9d.

Calves.—Calves were yarded in full numbers and sold steadily with values very firm on last week’s quotations with the exception of rougher quality runners, values for which were easier. Runners £2 to £3 18s; heavy vealers £3 5s to £3 12s; medium vealers £2 16s to £3 2s; light vealers £2 to £2 11s; small vealers £1 5s to £1 16s; small and fresh dropped 4s to £1 2s; rough calves 12s to 19s.

Pigs.—An average yarding of pigs came forward and sold at values on about a par with late rates. Heavy baconers £2 13s to £2 18s; medium baconers £2 6s to £2 11s; light baconers £1 19s to £2 4s; heavy porkers £1 15s to £1 18s; medium porkers £1 12s to £1 14s; light porkers £1 6s to £1 11s; small and unfinished £1 to £1 4s.
