DAIRY INDUSTRY
MARKETING PROPOSALS. DOMINION CONFERENCE. On October 14 the New Zealand Dairy Producers’ Free Marketing Association sent the following cablegram to the Dairy Produce Importers’ Association, London:— “Strongly attended meeting Free Marketing Association held Auckland to-day carried following resolution unanimously, no dissentient: ‘That this meeting of representatives of dairy companies is convinced that any interference with or restriction of the absolute freedom of dairy companies to dispose of their produce as they think fit is opposed to the best interests of the industry and would have the effect of placing New Zealand’s dairy produce at a grave disadvantage on the British market.’ ”
The Importers’ Association has replied as follows:-—“Your cablegram circulated among all members. As an association we have no desire to advocate any regulations which, in the opinion of the dairy industry are unacceptable. We draw attention to the fact that the proposed _ regulations were framed in conjunction with the Dairy Board at their request and with whom, representing the dairy industry, we are carrying on negotiations.”
The New Zealand Free MarketingAssociation has convened a Dominion wide meeting of representatives. of the dairy industry in Wellington. This meeting was to have been held bn November 2, but it has now been postponed till November 21 at the request of certain factories, which stated that the original date did not give them sufficient time to arrange for delegates to attend.
