FEILDING SALE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Feilding cattle fair held on Friday, 13th inst., as follows : The yarding of fat sheep was about on a par with the previous week, but more shorn sheep were in evidence, and from the outset the market opened firmly at last weeks' rates, and it was soon evident that the demand was firmer than previously, and this brought about a general rise of Is per head of all classes of fat sheep with the exception of the extra heavy weights. The entry of stores again comprised chiefly hoggets in the wool with one or two nice quality lines of ewe hoggets. These were keenly competed for at late rates. Two pens of ewes and lambs appeared to sell well in advance of recent prices. There was a heavy yarding of cattle in all sections, with the exception of beef, and some particulai'ly attractive lines came forward. Fat cattle were a little easier; store bullocks also barely maintained recent rates. Younger cattle sold particularly well. The market for dairy cattle was very heavy. Yearling Jersey heifers, of which there was a particularly good entry, eased somewhat, and a considerable number were passed at auction. We quote: Fat woolly hoggets 19s 3d; fat 2-tooths 15s 9d to 17s 3d; fat shorn ewes 13s to 17s; fat woolly ewes 16s 6d to 18s sd; fat shorn wethers 17s 6d; ewe hoggets 14s to 22s Id; wether hoggets 14s Id to 17s 9d; b.f. 2-tooths lis; 2-tooth wethers 13s 6d.
