PRINCESS ELIZABETH’S TEACHER
All Dunfermline was agog recently with the news that Miss Marion Crawford, a charming Scottish girl whose home is in that town, is to be appointed' governess to Princess Elizabeth, elder daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York. Miss Crawford, who is 25 years old, is at present governess to Miss Mary Leveson-Gower, niece of the Duchess of York, whose parents, Admiral the Hon. William Spencer Leveson-Gower and Lady Rose Leveson-Gower (formerly Lady Rose Bowes-Lyon) live at the Parsonage on the Glamis estate. Friends said that all her life Miss Crawford has shown a special aptitude for gaining and holding the affection of children. She was educated at Dunfermline High School and afterwards became English teacher to the children of Lord Elgin. Her abilities were brought to the notice of Lady Rose LevesonGower, who was so charmed with her that on several occasions she visited her daughter’s governess at her home and had tea with her and her parents.
