RANFURLY SHIELD GAME
KING COUNTRY TEAM. MANAGERS’ REPORT. At last night’s meeting of the King Country Rugby Union the managers of the Ranfury Shield challenge team (Messsr. J. L. Robinson and W. Copsey) presented the following report:— The game was very interesting and worth going a long way to see. Although beaten by 36 to nil the King Country team was not disgraced, as the score by no means indicates the trend of the play, but does give a fair indication of the difference in the finish of the two teams. Never at any stage of the play could it be said that King Country were penned on their own line, all Canterbury scores coming from well out in the field, and all being the result of splendid combination between backs and forwards. The experience will no doubt benefit the players very much, as it clearly demonstrated the value of team work and team understanding. The conduct of the players was exemplary both on and off the field, and was very favourably commented on by several of the Canterbury officials.
