THE WINTER SHOW

ALL AVAILABLE SPACE TAKEN. All preparations are now well in hand for the Winter Show to be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next, and indications point to this being one of the most successful functions of the kind yet held in the district. All the available space inside the buildings has been taken, and the Space Committee has had a difficult task in fulfilling the requirements of the various exhibitors. The entries for the root crops and other competitions are likely to establish a record in this way, while the same promise is given to the home garden section. The young people have been well catered for in the school competitions and domestic science sections. With the additional accommodation provided, the arrangements for the Show will be more compact than in previous years, and patrons will bo better provided for in every way. Entertainment Section. To attain life and colour in song, chorous and dress is the objective of the Winter Show Vaudeville Company, who will render a bright and happy programme at the Show on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Patrons are assured of a pleasing half hour, and will enjoy the various items, especially those rendered by the two young and charming lady members of the party. A unique feature of the Entertainment Section of the Show this year will be the Maori performances by the Morehu Party in its.original programme of ancient native ceremonies, melodies, pois, and hakas. This party has been busily rehearsing for some weeks. It is a long time since Te Kuiti had the pleasure of witnessing such an inspiring display of original Maori customs and amusements, and the company is assured of crowded houses on Friday evening.

The Show will open at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, and the official opening will be carried out at 3 p.m. by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. C. E. Macmillan.
