RETURNED SOLDIERS
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the executive was held on Friday, May 26, to consider proposals affecting the organisation and future working of this Association. Present: Mr. W. E. Cayley-Alexander in the chair), Messrs J. H. Thornton (hon. secretary), Rolleston, Flux, Ongley, Shearer, Rundle, Gray, Jones, Kitto, Walker, Thompson, Farrow, and J. Wilson.
The following resolutions were passed subject to confirmation at the half-yearly general meeting to be held in August:—
(1) That the election of president, two vice-presidents, secretary and executive take place at the annual general meeting on Anzac Day. Nominations for these positions to be signed by two financial members, and to be in the secretary’s hands ten clear days before the a'nnual general meeting on April 25th. List of nominations to be published in the KingCountry Chronicle, and ballot papers to be printed. A copy will be given to each financial member entering the meeting.
The result of the ballot will be declared after the voting papers have been collected and votes counted.
(2) The president and old officers and executive shall continue in office till the first meeting of the new
executive,
(3) The deputy-president will be elected at the first meeting of the new executive.
(4) That the executive consist of fourteen financial members, exclusive of president, two vice-presidents, and two delegates from each sub-branch. (5) That all ex-presidents be exofficio members of the executive, but without voting powei’.
(6) That any sub-branch being unable to send its delegates to the monthly or other meetings, may appoint in writing, any two financial members of the R.S.A. to represent them at that particular meeting only which they may be unable to attend. (7) That the secretary, Mr. J. H. Thornto'n, be the only member of the executive in Te Kuiti to issue chits, but that in the event of his being unavoidably absent that he shall appoint a deputy. , (8) That Messrs. Shearer and Ongley be appointed the Hospital Committee. (9) That these resolutions be brought forward for confirmation at the half-yearly general meeting in August. Mr. Farrow lodged notice of motion that monthly executive meetings he held on the ‘ third Friday in each month instead of third Saturday.
The President read out the remits prepared for the Dominion Conference. These were approved and received with acclamatio'n. The next executive meeting will be held on Friday, 16th June, at 8 p.m., when the election of deputy-president for the current year will take place.
