FIRE IN NEW PLYMOUTH
INCENDIARIST AT WORK.
ON UNOCCUPIED BUILDINGS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) New Plymouth, this day.
The fourth fire i'n unoccupied premises of New Plymouth in a fortnight occurred last night, a house in Barrett Street being damaged. The alarm was received about 9.35 p.m. and the brigade arrived to find flames issuing from the front door and windows. The seat of the fire' was in the rear of the building and little damage was do'ne elsewhere. It appears that the outbreak originated in the hack porch of the house.
A curious feature is that a passerby at 9.35 noticed nothing amiss, but shortly after 9.30 the rear of the buildings was burning fiercely.
The fire adds one more to a long list of outbreaks in empty buildings and unoccupied dwellings that the fire brigade has been called upon to extinguish in the last two years, and the fire brigade is definitely of the opinion that an incendiarist is at work.
