A Press Association cable from Philadelphia announces the death of Mr. Cyrus H. K. Curtis, the wellknown publisher, at the age of 85.
‘ There were about forty guests at a farewell extended to Mrs. Moonie a’nd her daughter, at Mrs. Swift’s residence on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Swift received her guests in pale blue crepe de chine, while the guest of honour, Mrs. Moonie, wore a navy blue, costume. A most enjoyable time was spent with games, so'ngs, community singing, etc., all adding to the gaiety. Competitions were won by Mesdames Durbridge and Dennehy and Miss Durbridge. The community singing went off with a swing, Mrs. Durbridge officiating at the piano. Songs by Mrs. Baddeley were very heartily appreciated, and, altogether, a most enjoyable evening was spent. Mrs. Teasdale made the presentation of a cakestand to Mrs. Moonie, and a cup and saucer to Miss Moonie, arid wished them every success in their new sphere of life. Mrs. Moonie suitably replied. Mr. Moonie and family, who have resided in Te Kuiti for the past 15 years, left yesterday morning on transfer to Auckland.
