SUMMER TIME

NO MOVE FOR EXTENSION. TIME TOO SHORT. There is now no likelihood of an attempt being made to alter the Summer Time Act this session. Sir Thomas Sidey, the originator of the measure, has made a careful survey of the position, and has come to the conclusion that time does not permit of a proposal to extend the period 'during which Summer Time operates being submitted to Parliament, although it is believed that such a move would meet with the approval of a majority of the House of Representatives. In the opinion of Sir Thomas there is no possibility of getting the actual period of Summer Time extended to the full hour during the life of the present Parliament.
