“I have learned the danger of making a joke,” said Archbishop Julius at a Christchurch gathering on Wednesday. “At St. George’s Hospital the other day I said they had forgotten to provide a lethal chamber for retired archbishops, ex-mayors, and old people generally. I thought that was the end of it, but two days ago I received a letter from an old gentleman begging me to reconsider my suggestion. He thought that in these times the Government might take it up seriously!”
