INDIAN TERRORISTS
CALCUTTA EDITOR WOUNDED. ASSAILANTS COMMIT SUICIDE. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.45 a.m..) Calcutta, September 28. Sir Alfred Watson, editor of the Calcutta Statesman, was shot and wounded by terrorists while driving in a car around Maidan, a big open space in the European quarter, this evening. The assailants opened fire from a car which drew alongside Sir Alfred Watson's car in a lonely part. Sir Alfred Watson was injured in both shoulders. His secretary, Mrs. Grose was injured in the hand, and the Sikh driver wounded in the right shoulder. None of the wounds are believed to be dangerous at present. The assailants escaped in the car which was unlighted and has not been identified. A later message states that two of the wouldl-be murderers drank poison and died when they found the police were hot on their heels in an outlying suburb.
