SCOUT NOTES
Last Wednesday the Troop celebrated its third birthday in the form of a social evening. The large gathering consisted of members of the group committees of both Te Kuiti and Otorohanga groups, officers and Scouts of the Otorohanga group, officers and Girl Guides of the Te Kuiti Company of Guides, and, of course, Te Kuiti were out in full strength. From the commencement of games at 7.30 the programme went off with a good swing, and proved a credit to the boys who were responsible for arranging and carrying it out.
Campfire items, around an artificial campfire, by our guests, the Otorohanga Scouts and Girl Guides, were greatly appreciated. Te Kuiti also rendered campfire items. A tug-o-war contest between Otorohanga and Te Kuiti Scouts proved an interesting item. Two pulls were held, Otorohanga winning both. Items rendered by the Joseph brothers were greatly appreciated by all. A special game, noughts and crosses, for the "old folks" was very amusing. This was followed by a community sing, and then last but not least, supper. In the light of the three candles burning on the magnificent cake, Mr. J. C. Rolleston, our patron, addressed the gathering and wished} the troop success in its fourth year. Scoutmaster Craddock and Captain Graham also addressed those present. A prayer and the singing of the National Anthem brought a most enjoyable evening to a close. Our thanks are due to Mrs. Fraser for making the cake. Last week the Weka Patrol again succeeded in holding the Competition Cup, the Moreporks running equal with 217£ points.
