ROD AND GUN CLUB

TROUT BREEDING POND. CLAY BIRD SHOOTING. At a meeting of the Te Kuiti Rod and Gun Club, presided over by Mr. H. C. Evans, there was a large number of members present. The principal matter for discussion was the formation of a trout rearing and breeding pond. Those present were of the opinion that such a pond would be a great asset in the stocking of the rivers and streams in the district. It was pointed out that there was a high mortality among the fry when placed in the rivers when they were so small as to be unable to defend themselves, whereas if there were facilities for keeping them until larger this would be avoided. The site fixed 'on was in a stream running through Mr. Horne’s property in Mangarino Road.

Among other matters which cropped up was the proposal to hold a clay bird shoot. No definite arrangements were made, but all present were enthusiastic in advocating the project.
