NAZIS AND COMMUNISTS
BIG DEMONSTRATION AT BERLIN. POLICE FIRE ON AND KILL 24 COMMUNISTS. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 10.5 a.m.) Berlin, July 4. The Times Berlin correspondent says the decree restoring the freedom of political demonstrations was celebrated by a gigantic Communist rally at Lustgarten. The space before the former Royal palaces is ablaze with scarlet banners adorned with a hammer and sickle design. A lorry load of police were ready for disorders, but the vast crowd marched away without creating a disturbance, shouting, “Down with Nazis.” Serious disorders occurred at the Red Sporting Festival at Essen, when the mob fired and stoned the police, killing a sergeant. The police returned the fire and killed 24 Communists-Nazi-Communistic conflicts are also reported at Stuttgart and Escheweigar.
