•A few years ago the. opossum trapping rights of the Hutt-Akaratawa district brought in considerable revenue, but, like many other products, the skins of these animals have now dropped to such a low price that the animals are not worth the time and trouble in trapping them. It is for that reason that there is an ominous blank against the word “Trapping” in the estimates of the City. and Suburban Water Board for next year. Under these circumstances the opossum should increase and multiply against the coming of the years that will place a greater value on his winter coat.
