WAR PENSION CUT

COMMISSION'S PROPOSALS. WAIRARAPA OBJECTIONS. Masterton, March 18. Opposition to the recommendations of the Economy Commission regarding war pensions was expressed at a meeting of the committee of the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers' Association last Friday night. The following resolution was carried: — "That this meeting enters an emphatic protest against the Econohiy Commission's recommendations to reduce the economic pension by one-half in 1932-33 and to abolish them altogether in the following year. The association fully recognises the need for economy and is prepared to support the reduction of economic pensions by the usual 10 per cent., this being in unison with the general economic reduction. We urge the Dominion executive to take up the matter with the Government and to oppose rigidly the putting into effect of this portion of the commission's recommendations."
