FORESTERS SOCIAL
QUARTERLY MEETING. Members of Court Anzac, A.0.0.F., Te Kuiti, met for their quarterly meeting on Monday, 29th February, with an attendance of over 30 local members and visitors from Court Concord, Hamilton, Court Pride of the Leith, Dunedin, and Court Waireka, New Plymouth. C.R. Bi*o. O. R. Nelson, assisted by P.C.R/s Bros. D. A. Roger and W. Rundle, and S.C.R. Bro. Bonner, initiated a new member into the Order, he being the twenty-first brother initiated during the' past 12monthly -period. After the Court business was concluded a social evening was arranged for the purpose of celebrating the thirteenth anniversary of the Court. C.R. Bro. Nelson ap-ain presided and conducted one of the most enjoyable evenings yet experienced on such occasions.
After the toast of the King had been honoured the C.R. outlined the purpose of the evening, and in doing so gave a very instructive address on the very valuable work of friendly societies and *the advantages of the interchanging of visits by Lodge members. An anoropriate toast list was arranged, chief of which was that of "Court Anzac," proposed by P.C.R. Bro. Cooke and Bro. D. Reid of Court Concord, and responded to by C.R. Bro. Nelson. P.C.R. Bro. R. Reid proposed the "Court Founders," with which was coupled P.C.R. Bro. D. Davidson, who gave an interesting outline of the history of the Court, and referred to the "steady progress made since its recognition in 1919, when the membership totalled 16, while to-day the roll call stands at 84. Other toasts were: "The Visitors," proposed by P.C.R. Bro. Dodds and replied to by P.C.R. Bro. Cooke and Bro. Reid; "Hon. Members," by P.C.R. Bro. Dodds, and responded to by P.C.R. Bros. Cooke and Reid; and "Honorary Members," proposed by P.C.R. Bro. D. A. Roger and responded to by Bros. A. Frazer, W. Read, D. Watkins and G. Joseph. Bro. W. Reid proposed "The Social Committee," congratulating the committee on its fine effort in the laying of the tables, Bro. J. Gyde, social secretary replying. . Vocal and musical items, which were highly appreciated, were rendered by Mr." Whitten, Bros. Bonner, J. Henderson, J. Gyde and others. During the evening opportunity was taken of discussing matters vitally affecting the country courts, members showing their usual keen interest in the questions to the speakers.
As the hour of midnight approached the C.R. rose to thank the officers and brothers for their assistance -in making the evening an enjoyable one, the efforts of the Social Committee and the artists receiving well deserved appreciation. He especially thanked Mr. Whitten, whose performance at the piano contributed so largely toward the success of the evening. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" then closed a function that will be remembered by visitors and local members alike.
