IMPRISONED FROM BIRTH.
FATHER'S INCREDIBLE CRUELTY,
A frantic girl rushed up and down the streets of Jassy, Rumania, screaming with fear at the passersby. She was taken to the police station, where it was learned that she was the daughter of a villager who had kept her a prisoner from her birth, 12 years before, so that he could inherit the property of his wife, who died at the time. She had never seen the outdoors, until that day when her keeper forgot to close the door of her prison, and she crept out into the * streets and to the ordinary things of daily life, which drove her almost mad with bewilderment and fear.
