PARISIANS PAWN THEIR CARS, FOR THE WINTER.

Paris, November 22

Pawning their cars for the winter has long solved the garaging difficulty and expense for many Parisians, and since they have found that "Ma Tante" warehouses cars with greater solicitude than the average garage, they are particularly jubilant to hear that the municipal pawnshop has decided to build a new garage capable of housing 2000 cars instead of 150. "Ma Tante" charges roughly a third of the normal garage fee. Hence it is not surprising for motorists to snap their fingers at the law, which forbids such pledging unless the owners are genuinely "broke."
