"I lost miles of fencing which cannot be replaced because the land is moving still," stated a Hawke's Bay farmer giving evidence before the Hawke's Bay Adjustment Court. Detailing further losses, witness stated that on the day of the disaster, he lost 36 head of stud cattle, killed through boulders rolling down the hillsides.
