NOTICE TO MAKE RETURNS OF INCOME UNDER THE LAND AND INCOME TAX ACT, 1923, AND AMENDMENTS. jyOTICE is hereby, given that, in pursuance of the above Act and the Regulations made thereunder, every person and company, whether a tax payer or not, having- derived income within the meaning of the said Act during the year ending 31st March, 1931, from any source or by any means which Is made the subject of taxation under the said Act or any amendment thereof is hereby required to make and furnish to me, in the prescribed form, returns of such inj come on or before the Ist day of June, 1931.
In cases where the Commissioner has agreed to accept returns for twelve months ending at a date subsequent to the 31st March, such returns shall be made within two months after such subsequent date. And, further, notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings at Wellington. E. J. R. SPECIAL NOTE.—Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £IOO. FARMERS' UNION. In all cases fresh application forms containing declaration as to physical fitness must be signed. No form will be sent unless stamped envelope is enclosed for same, personal application, therefore, is preferable. All applications for NEW LICENSES must be made at the County Office for testing purposes. For the purpose of issuing RENEWALS ONLY the Testing Officer will visit Country Districts as follows: — May 21st, 9.110 a.m. till 4 p.m., Pio Pio. —Wairere Power Board Office. A motor car driver had an interesting experience in Wanganui last Wednesday week, polling day. A ring came to headquarters that a car was required at a certain quarter to take a woman to vote. He duly arrived at the address, and on knocking at the door announced his mission. The greeting he received was: “Get out, you spalpeen. I never vote on anything except at the general elections." Evidently some person who knew the woman’s mind on these matters put the joke across the driver.
