The market for New Zealand lamb is weaker. The demand is moderate. N. Z. prime Canterbury mutton, 48 to 561bs, 4d; North Island do, Shd; Canterbury mutton, 56 to 641bs, 33d; North Island do, 31d; Canterbury mutton, 64 to 721bs, 33d; North Island do, 3id; Canterbury ewes, 2gd; North Island do, 2&d.
The market for New Zealand mutton is unchanged. The demand is fair.
G.A.Q. Australian lamb, 28 to 36 lbs, 4Jd; 36 to 421bs, 4|d; F.A.Q. Australian lamb, 28 to 361bs, 33d; Australian lamb, third quality, 3id.
The market for Australian lamb is weaker. The demand is limited. G.A.Q. Australan mutton, 40 to 601bs, 2 id; Australian mutton, F.A.Q., 35 to 551bs, 2d; Australian ewes, 13 d. The market for Australian mutton is unchanged. The demand is moderate.
Beef.—New Zealand prime oxbeef, hinds SM, fores 3d. Argentine, chilled, hinds 4id, fores 3£d. The market for New Zealand beef is nominal. The demand is nil.
Pork.—English pork, 80 to lOOlbs,
9d. N.Z. porkers, 80 to lOOlbs, sd;
100 to 1201bs, 4Sd. The market for New Zealand pork is dull. The demand is poor. Southdown lamb, id. premium.
DAIRY PRODUCE
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London principals, Messrs. Samuel Page and Son, dated sth inst.: — Butter. —The market is quiet. New Zealand, finest grade, salted 120 s to 1225. Danish butter 138 sto 1425. Australian, finest, unsalted 122 s to 1265; do, salted 120 s to 12s 2d; Australian G.A.Q., 114 s to 118 s. Cheese. —The market is steady at present prices. New Zealand, white 56s to 575; coloured 58s to 60s. Canadian, white and coloured, 70s to 78s; Australian, white 55s to 565, coloured 58s to 595.
FEILDING STOCK SALE
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as under on the Feilding sale held on 6th inst. Again heavy yarding of all classes of stock came forward and the sale was well attended by the public. The yarding of fat sheep consisted chiefly of ewes, the prices of which showed a hardening tendency. All the yarding was sold. Breeding ewes were again in good demand and buyers for the better lines were not difficult to find. There was a fairly heavy yarding of lambs, the majority of which was sold at prices on a lower level than recent prices. There was a good enquiry for rams, which sold at satisfactory prices. A medium entry of cattle sold at late rates. We quote:—
