QUAKE DAMAGE
RIVER BOARD WORKS. £SOOO FOR REPAIRS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wellington, this day. A request was made by a deputation which waited on the Premier from the Hawke's Bay River Board yesterday that £IO,OOOO be granted by the Government for the repair of the damage caused by the earthquake to the river protection works in the Board's area. After consultation with his colleagues, Mr. Forbes announced that the Government had decided to make a grant of £SOOO on a £ for £ basis, and the Board to be lent £SOOO free of interest for two years.
