DOG GUARDS DEAD MATE

♦ After his companion, an Alsatian, had been run over and killed by a motor car at Bassett, Southampton, England, an Airedale stood on guard over the body throughout the night and attacked anyone who attempted to come near. A civilian who tried to coax the Airedale away had part of his coat torn away by the dog's teeth. A policeman was also driven off. Both dogs belonged to one owner and had been brought up together. They had wandered from their home at Eastleigh.
