ATTEMPT TO RESTORE CONFIDENCE.

An earnest appeal to the Government to restore public confidence in Australia, both at home and abroad, by “strong political action,” and reconsideration of the suggestion by Mr. Latham for the establishment of a non-party advisory council was made by Sir George Peace, Leader of the Opposition, in the Senate. “Australia is facing the most dangerous crisis in her history; the country is drifting and nothing is being done to stop that drift,” he said.
