GRAND HOTEL
PLANS FOR RE-BUILDING. A meeting of the directors of the Grand Hotel, Ltd.,, was held last night, when the position that has arisen in regard to the late fire was fully discussed. It was decided to go fully into the matter of re-building as soon as the insurance adjustments are finalised. Immediate steps will be taken to clear the section, but this can only be done after the insurance companies have finished their adjustments. HEAVY LOSSES OF LOCAL RESIDENTS. Amongst those who were heavy losers by the fire were Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Howarth, who lost everything. Mrs. Howarth was awakened by a heavy fall of glass, and both had barely time to make their exit before the room was a mass of flames and smoke. Mrs Howarth lost some valuable jewellery, also a fur coat and some fur rugs. Mr. and Mrs. Howarth estimate their loss at £250, some of the lost articles being a collection of many years and impossible to replace.
