KAEAE ASPORTS.

AN ENJOYABLE DAY

The Kaeaea Sports Club held its annual sports in IVlr A. W. Burnett's paddock on Saturday, l*t March. The weather, with the exception of a nasty shower, was good. Messrs R. Boddy and H. Fetch, carried out their duties as judges of the horse events in their usual efficient mnner.

The jumping was well above the average. Mr J. Johnstone won the Hunter's Cup outright with Rangeragainst strong competition. This is the third cup Mr Johnstone has won at Kaeaea On being declared winner, this super-sport imi'nedfately gave a handsome donation as tv nucleus for another cup. Mr Dan Sheehan, as handicapper and sarter of the running events,, agjuin earned out his duties to the satisfaction of everyone, but not having the courage to handicap the married ladies, Mr Henderson carried this out in such a manner as to prove himself a boss in the art of handicapping. Mr Sam Hunter handicapped the children's events in which the Kaeaea, sports specialise, and carried out the job to the entires atisfaction of old and young a?, ke.

The chopping events were well patronised. Mr C. Rogers handicapped and Mr H Houghton judged. Mr A. 11. Keighley judged the loot races and with large number of running events was kept busy all day. The sports dance is a big event at Kaeaea and this year was no exception. The hall was filled, people coming from all districts surrounding Kaeaea.
