INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION.
POWERS SUSPENDED. (Preeß Association. Copyright.) (Received 8.50 a.m.) Sydney, this day. In less than 15 minutes the Legislative Assembly passed a Bill to suspend the powers of the Industrial Commission to declare a living wage for adult male and female employees until Parliament makes a further provision on that behalf. The Bill was taken through all stages without opposition.
INFANT’S BODY IN SUITCASE. HANDED TO MISSION MATRON. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.5 a.m.) Sydney, this day. What appears to have been a case of murder was reported to the police. In a suitcase handed to the matron of the Central Methodist Mission was found the body of a newly-born female infant. A silk cord had been knotted round its neck and death was due to suffocation.
