GRAVE ANXIETY SHOWN.
ONLY VERY SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT. (Australian and N.Z. Press Assn.) (Received 11.25 a.m.) London, December 28. A bulletin issued at IL4O a.m. states that the King had a fair night and a quieter sleep towards morning. There is less difficulty 111 taking nourishment, and the general state oi the patient has improved during the last twelve h'ours. At a consultation this morning the progress of the past week was reviewed. During that period there had been a definite improvement of local conditions. On the other hand, the general condition as evidenced by weight and strength does not show the same progress. The measures best adapted for meeting this difficulty were considered and determined by Sir Francis Hewett, Sir Hugh Rugby, Dr. Buzzard, FleetSurgeon Rolleston, and Lord Dawson of Penn.
Lord Dawson saw the King for half an hour during the afternoon, and it is officially stated that his condition is unchanged. Anxiety has been somewhat relieved by the fact that the King has shown some improvement during the last twelve hours before the bulletin was issued. This to a small extent justifies the hope that the doctors expressed last night, that the King would regain some of the lost ground. The advance during the night, however, was very slight, and principal anxiety is concentrated on the King’s general condition, which though satisfactory, is not of paramount importance. The Prince of Wales called at the Palace twice during the morning and Princess Mary has postponed her visit to Harewood Hall.
