AUSTRALIAN BRIBERY CASE.
CONTINUATION OF HEARING. FUNDS FOR NATIONAL, PARTY. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10;5 a.m.) Sydney, this day.* Continuing his evidence in the Fitzgibbons bribery case, Jarvie denied that he had received £3OO from Titzgibbons for? himself or for the National Party funds. Mr Winever, K.C., counsel for Fitzgibbon, said: "Then you can explain why Fitzgerald, when drawing £2OO from his bank, also withdrew £300?'; Jarvie: No. Jarvie admitted that when Premier Bavin was discussing an attempt to bribe Bruntnell, the Premier asked whether there was a rumour about £3OO as well as £2OO, to which Jarvie replied: Yes; there is a rumour, but he (Jarvie) had no knowledge whether he was implicated. Mr Winever: What was the rumour Jarvie: That £SOO had been withdrawn, £2OO having reached Bruntnell and some suggestion that £3OO reached me, which certainly was not correct. The police tendered a statement by Fitzgibbons, in which he declared he had withdrawn £SOO, not £2OO, which he intended for the party funds. The hearing of the case was adjourned till Monday.'
