NATIVE LANDS.

CONSOLIDATION SCHEMES. COMMITTEE TO SUPERVISE. When interviewed by a reporter at Wellington, the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, stated that during the term of the late Government a scheme for the consolidation of interests in native lands was undertaken in various districts, principally in the Bay of Plenty, the King Country, North Auckland, and Poverty Bay, and Mr Coates, as Native Minister, had under consideration the appointment of a committee to supervise these schemes. Cabinet had approved that proposal, and appointed the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, Judge Carr, of Gisborne, apd Mr F. L. Primrose, of the staff of the Lands Department at Gisborne, to comprise the committee.
