OBITUARY.

MR. A. R, BRYCE. The death occurred on Sunday in the Auckland Hospital, after a protracted illness, of a well-known and very highly respected resident of the district, in the person of- Mr A. R. Bryce, who for some years past has been engaged in farming in the Wairere district. The loss of this gentleman will be felt in a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, for it will mean the passing of a much honoured personality. The late Mr Bryce was the eldest son of the Hon. John Bryce, who, as a Minister of Native Affairs in the Atkinson Government, was an active figure in the Government of those times (1876-1884). Mr Bryce was formerly engaged in farming in the Marton district, selling up his property there to answer the call of his country in the Great War. This lie did notwithstanding the fact that ho was over age, seeing a considerable amount of service, including the Gallipoli campaign. After serving with the N.Z.E.F. he was invalided''home, when he took up land in the King Country. The late Mr Bryce took a. keen interest in all affairs connected with the interests of returned soldiers, and will consequently be missed from this as well as other spheres of activity.
