SAD MOUNTAIN TRAGEDY.
WHILE PERFORMING ACT OF CHARITY. OF SANTA CLAUS MISSION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable). (Received 10.45 a.m.) New York, December 17. A message from Prescott, states that Santa Claus, who -annually visits Wagoner, an isolated Arizona range town, will not deliver gifts to children this year, so Mr. Tom Goodwin, a wealthy batchelor cattleman, loaded a motor-car with Christmas toys and candies, and accompanied by Miss Pearl Johnson, a school teacher, and Mr. Reg Thomas, his cowboy friend, was proceeding thither when a terrific snow storm overtook them in the mountain pass. Mr. Goodwin was killed amongst the toys when the car dashed over a precipice. Mr. Thomas and Miss Johnson were found badly frozen, but will recover.
