TE KUITI FIRE BRIGADE.

ANNUAL MEETING. % i WORK OF THE YEAR. The annual meeting" of the Te Kuiti Volunteer Fire Brigade was held, in the lire station on Wednesday last, Superintendent J. C. Henderson presiding over a full muster of members. Before commencing the business of the meeting, a motion of condolence was passed on behalf of "our late comrade, Fireman G. B. Beuth," of the Auckland City Fire Brigade, who met his death as the result of injuries received whilst in the execution of his duty. The motion was observed in silence. The annual balance sheet was read and received. The annual report showed that during the past year, the brigade had answered 32 alarms. In the case'of two calls no water had been available, and in the case of a fire at Mr. W. Thorpe's residence in Hill Street, the latter's house had been totally destroyed owing to water not being available.

During the year a benefit ;fvmd had been instituted for members in straitened circumstances, and ; the brigade was very grateful in this connection to the Te Kuiti Women's Civic League for their generous donation of £9 9s to this fund.

In reviewing the year's work, Superintendent Henderson complimented brigade members on their good attendance when called upon, and the keenness shown in their work. Special praise was given to the wives of members for their very valuable assistance in the social work of the brigade. It was decided to hold the honorary members' annual reunion on Thursday, April 26, and honorary members are kindly asked to note this date, and keep it available. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: " Superintendent, J. C. Henderson; Deputy-Superintendent, H. Higgins; Foreman, F. Drew; secretary, A. Corlejtt; executive committee, superintendent, deputy-superintendent, the secretary, and Firemen A. C. Shearer * and F. Ongley. •
