A press message from Christchurch announces that' Rapine has been scratched for the Great Autumn Handicap. At yesterday’ se meeting of the Waitomo County Council, the ranger stated that there were about 1500 dogs registerd to date in the County, and there were still a number more to ho registered. Opportunity was taken by Mr C. IT. Tate, at the Golf Club’s dance held on Thursday night, to announce that the golf links would not be officially opened to-day as previously stated. Owing to the fact that the links are not quite in playing order, the opening? will he postponed till the 23rd inst. In the meantime the are open to members desiring to practise.
