KIDNAPPING NOTABLES. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.45 a.m.) London, April 21. The Daily Mail's Damascus correspondent reports that fighting is of daily occurrence. Barricades erected by the French in the chief quarters of the city are causing France's Armenian and Circassian levies to resort to indiscriminate firing, and bullets are whizzing day and night. Man3' are harmless, but citizens are being killed and" the Armenians are committing many atrocities, looting and cutting off women's hands to secure rings and bracelets. , The rebels frequently raid the city, kidnapping notables, whom they are holding for ransom.
