Thirty persons have died from measles, pneumonia and peritonitis on the Italian liner Belvidere, since her departure from Trieste and her arrival at Buenos Ayres. Most of the victims were emigrants. They were buried at sea.

Dr Desmond Rowan, the Fife doctor, and his 14-year-old daughter, who, with Mrs Rowan, were found in a gas-filled bedroom, have died. Mrs Rowan is in a critical condition. It is alleged that, in addition to allowing themselves to be gassed, the two partook of drugs.
