METHODIST HARVEST FESTIVAL.

A PROFITABLE EFFORT. The Methodist Church Harvest Festival was held at the Parish Hall on Thursday. There was a large attendance irFtlie afternoon, and good business was done at the generously stocked and prettily arranged stalls. The stallholders were:—Produce, Mesdames Shorthou.se and Sanders. Work: Mesdames Strand, W. Nicholls, and Hill. Sweets: Mrs and Miss Foss.. Bran, tub: Miss E. Hankers. Tearooms: Mesdames Bewick, "Wilton, Hankers and Pilkington.

The unfavourable weather which set in late in the da,y was doubtless responsible for there being only a fair audience at 'the concert held in the evening. Nevertheless a varied programme of vocal music was very much enjoyed by those wild defied the rain to keep them away. The items were: ‘‘Song of Greeting,” Choir; solos, Mr A. Blackman and Mrs Shipton; duet, “I Arise from Dreams of Thee,” Mr and Miss Bates; song, “Weep Not foi< the Bases” (Slater), Mrs Owens; part song, “The Bells of St Michael’s Tower,” .the Choir; monologue, “The Lesson of the Watermill,” Air Elliott; solo. “The Flight of Ages,” Mrs Stansfield: part song, “Song of the Gypsies,” Choir; song, “Young Tom o’ Devon,” Air Stubbings; duet, “Parted',” ALescktjincs Stylus field and Gittens; .solo, “Slumber Dear Maid” (Handel), Aliss Bates; part song, “Comrades in Arms,” Choir.

Airs Ellin|bt was at the piano. The clio/ir was ably conducted by Air J. Bates.
