JEWS NOT MONEYLENDERS.
RABBI’S OPINION.
(Press Association.) London, April 12,
“The Jew by nature is not a moneylender,” said the Rev. Israel Matuck, in announcing that the Liberal Jewish Synagogue at Regent’s Park had decided to refuse moneylenders membership of- the congregation. They would be allowed to worship in the synagogue but, not allowed to contribute to its support.
The Rev. Matuck explained that the decision is not because moneylending strengthens the prejudice against Jews, but all Jewish law condemns moneylending.
