The number of honeymoon couples fit Wangamri for Christmas and NewYear was phenomenal, showing (says the Wanganui Herald), that the parsons elsewhere have had their biasy time also. The most striking feature revealed by an analysis of tlie vital statistics for the the Hamilton district for 1924 is the exceptional .low mortality rate enjoyed by the town. The deaths recorded number 181, and show a decided decrease on last year's, figures. They represent .016 per cent of the town's population, and from the undertaker's point of view "business has been bad." This low percentage of deaths approches a world's record.
