A tentative agreement has been arrived at in Paris between the United States' representatives and- the Allied Finance Ministers, and has been accepted by the Washington Government. The acceptance was announced at the State Department, where it was emphasised that it was no departure from America's policy towards the collection of claims under the Dawes plan from the German annuities involved.

(At the Inter-Allied Finance Ministers' Conference at Paris upon the re-arrangements of the payments by Germany of reparations under the Dawes' plan, an agreement was unexpectedly arrived at on Sunday. It came as a surprise because there had bejen a good deal of acrimony iivthe previous discussiolns. Mr Winston Churchill, the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, declared himself as contain that the agree men t would be ratified at the plenary session to-day. Rearrangements of payments were effected in, regaad ito the discharge of American expenses of occupation, A lump sum of 150,000,000 godd marks was fixed for future occupation expenses, liable to certain reductions. After allowance has been made for all these priority claims thiry-four milliards of gold marks remain for reparations payments out o(f the Dawes scheme. France will receive fifty-two per cent. It was acknowledged that Belgian priority is not entirely extinguished. priority is nab entirely extinguished, Belgium still having lo reecive 120,-000,-000 gold marks out of the two milliards conceded her. Belgium consequently will continue tol September, 1926, 'to receive eight per cent of tho annual Dawes scheme payments, after which she will be reduced to four per cent. The residue is assigned to the United States.)
