THE RAILWAY STAFF.
OFFICERS SENT ABROAD. The decision of Cabinet to send abroad' officers of the different branches of the Railway Department was referred to by Hon. J. G. Cdates at Auckland vesterday.. Mr Coates said that Mr J. Ma son, who was recently appointed a member of the Railway .Board, bad been elected to proceed to Sonin Africa as soon as practicable, and subsequently to England. Sooth Africa, bad been included as it presented features that were considered unalagous to those existing iff the Dominion, inasmuch as the South African railways were constructed on the 3ft. 6in, gauge and were State-ow • Mr F. It. Angus, lo; -w- rtivi ■ ugineer. had been selected to accompany Mr Matson, representing the- mechanical side. Mr E. J. Guinness. Comptroller of Stores, wtjrild go to New South -Wales to working of the railways there. . Mr A. Mouatt, District traffic Manner Auckland, had been appointed to fill the vacancy -off the Railway Board caused by the absence of Mr Mason.
