(Received 11.40 a.m.) Melbourne, this day. A domestic tragedy is reported from Denmark, 20 miles west of Albany, as a result of which an elderly woman named Elizabeth Blacknell is dead. The husband, Alfred Blacknell, has surrendered himself to the police. The deceased was last seen alive on Friday afternoon by her son, who asked her why she was looking so worried. The mother replied: “Our home has been spoilt: it is a miserable affair.” When the son arrived home in the evening, he found the mother lying dead in a pool of blood. The police state that the husband has confessed to murdering his wife after a quarrel.
