A NARROW ESCAPE.
LOOSE BUGGY WHEEL. The need for an occasional inspection of buggy wheels to see that nothing has become loosened by the jolting received on our not always smooth roads, was evidenced early yesterday afternoon, when Miss E. Tumohe narrowly escaped serious injury, as the result of being thrown from a buggy. Miss Tumohe, whose home is at Te Kumf, about two miles from the township, had just left on her way to town and was driving down hill at little more than a walking pace, when one of the wheels came off. Miss Tumohe was violently thrown on the metalled road, escaping with slight injuries to the head and shoulders. Frightened by the crash, the horse bolted, and dragging the damaged buggy behind it, had actually passed the Municipal Hall before being headed.off by a car occupied by Messrs T. T. Hetet and T. Dixon. The animal was much distressed, and was readily captured, when it was released from its encumbrance.
Miss Tumohe, on recovering from the shock of the fall, was able to proceed to her home, where she had her injuries attended to, and is now none the worse for her unpleasant experience.
