The Hon. R. F. Bollard was presented by the Auckland branch of the Reform League with an illuminated address on Tuesday last. Mr A. W. Muschamp, of the staff of the local branch of the Union Bank, has received notice of his transfer to Christchurch, and leaves by to-night's express to take up his new duties. Dr Perry, the well-known New Zealand representative footballer, has appointed assistant medical officer at the Otago Hospital. The Viscountess Morley, widow of Lord John Morley, who died recently, passerl away in her sleep in her home at Wimbledon Park, at ijjg age of 83. The citizens of Soutlr Canterbury presented a public testimonial on Tuesday evening to the Hon. J. Craigie, M.L.C., on the eve of his departure on an extended tour of Britain, Europe, and the East. Mr and Mrs J. Jamison left by the express this morning for Auckland, where Mr Jamison takes up his duties as borough foreman at Mount Eden. The Right Rev. Dr Liston, Co-adju- ,~ tor Bishop of Auckland, arrives this afternoon in connection with the mission at the local Catholic Church. Viscount Leverhulme, England's great soap manufacturing magnate, recently passed his 72nd birthday, but has nevertheless planned to tour the world to inspect the various enterprises with which he is connected. He will visit New Zealand in December. Lord Leverhulme, whose title was oddly formed by combining his family name, with that of his wife, was born William Hes.ketli Lever. He began life as a clerk in his father's grocery store Sn 1867< Twenty years later he began to manufacture soap on a small scale, which in time, with the help of judicious newspaper advertising, grew to a business capitalised at £100,000,000. Lord Leverhulme is a staunch supporter of Lloyd George. He was in Parliament for four years, but found the unprogressive atmosphere distasteful. Mr W. Ooodfellow, managing director .of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, has sufficiently recovered from his recent illness to be able to resume his duties with the company, which he will resume next Monday.
