Ten men and the proverbial dog turned up for the meeting in the Town Hall, Gore, the other evening which was to be addressed by Mr F. N. Bartram, Labour member for Grey Lynn (says the Mataura Ensign). At two minutes past eight the dog gave a last disconsolate.look round, and showed its heels. At 10 minutes past the appointed hour half of the human audience sauntered off, and at 11 minutes past it was announced to the remaining faithful five that the meeting was "off."
