It is officially announced that the Duke, of York is engaged to Elizabeth, daughter of the Earl of Strathmore. (Claud Georges Bowes-Lyon, Earl of Strathmore, is the fourteenth earl to hold the title, which was created in 1677. He was married in 1881 to Cecelia, daughter of the late Rev. Charles W. Cavendish Bentinck, and *has four'sons and three daughters. He owns about 24,700 acres.)
